Endoscopic Grading

Endoscopic grading is a standardized method for classifying the severity, extent, or appearance of abnormalities observed during an endoscopic examination. It works by applying defined visual criteria, such as lesion size, surface characteristics, tissue involvement, or bleeding, to assign findings to ordered grades or stages. These grades help clinicians communicate observations consistently, support diagnosis and treatment planning, and monitor changes over time or after therapy. In medical research, endoscopic grading also improves comparison among patients, strengthens outcome assessment, and enables more reliable evaluation of disease progression and therapeutic effectiveness across clinical studies.

Graded Potential

2025

Graded potentials are localized fluctuations in the cell membrane's electrical charge, commonly found in the dendrites of neurons. The magnitude of these potential changes depends on the strength of the initiating stimulus. In a membrane at its resting potential, a graded potential signifies a voltage shift either above -70 mV or below -70 mV. Graded potentials fall into two categories: depolarizing and hyperpolarizing. Depolarizing graded potentials typically occur when sodium (Na+) or calcium...

Types of Aggregate Grading

2024

Aggregate grading is crucial in economically obtaining a concrete mix with adequate strength, reasonable workability, and minimal segregation. There are four types of aggregate gradation: well-graded, uniformly (or one-sized) graded, gap-graded, and open-graded. Well-graded aggregates include a complete range of necessary size fractions that fit together to create a dense matrix with minimal voids, represented by a smooth, continuous gradation curve. This type of grading ensures good...

2015

We describe methods for longitudinal monitoring of the efficacy of therapeutics for the treatment of colonic pathologies in mice using a rigid endoscope. This protocol can be readily used for the characterization of the therapeutic response of an individual tumor in live mice and also for monitoring potential disease relapse.
