Terazosin Finasteride

Terazosin and finasteride are prescription medicines used together to manage benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), a noncancerous enlargement of the prostate that can obstruct urinary flow. Terazosin, an alpha-1 adrenergic receptor blocker, relaxes smooth muscle in the prostate and bladder neck to improve urine flow, while finasteride inhibits 5-alpha reductase, lowering dihydrotestosterone and gradually reducing prostate volume. Combination therapy addresses both immediate urinary symptoms and the underlying prostate enlargement, helping reduce progression and the risk of acute urinary retention or BPH-related surgery. Their complementary mechanisms make them an important treatment strategy in urologic medicine.
