Cell Culture Procedure

A cell culture procedure is a controlled laboratory method for maintaining and studying living cells outside the organism, providing a reproducible system for investigating cellular behavior. It involves introducing cells into sterile vessels with a suitable nutrient medium and regulated environmental conditions, then monitoring growth, morphology, viability, and, when needed, renewing the medium or transferring cells to new cultures. In neuroscience, researchers use neuronal and glial cultures to examine development, synaptic communication, neurotoxicity, and responses to disease-related or pharmacological treatments. These procedures support microscopy, electrophysiology, and molecular analyses while reducing experimental complexity and enabling controlled comparisons across conditions.
