Nerve Fixator Positioning

Nerve Fixator Positioning is a procedural method for placing a fixation device around or adjacent to a target nerve so the tissue remains stable during neuroscience procedures. The operator selects an approach and orientation that restrain unwanted movement while minimizing compression, bending, and traction; secure positioning also preserves a consistent anatomical reference for manipulation or measurement. In experimental and clinical settings, this technique can support peripheral nerve exposure, microsurgical repair, stimulation, or electrophysiological recording, improving procedural control and reproducibility. Careful placement is particularly important when small positional changes could alter nerve geometry or affect functional outcomes.

Iris Fixation via External Pentagram Suturing

2022

The present protocol describes how a 10-0 polypropylene suture crosses the anterior surface of the iris, forming a pentagram to prevent both iris and pupil from moving toward the cornea. This can be combined with subsequent keratoplasty to cure bullous keratopathy with extensive anterior synechia of the iris.

Two basic types of preparation are used to visualize specimens with a light microscope: wet mounts and fixed specimens. The simplest type of preparation is the wet mount, in which the specimen is placed in a drop of liquid on the slide. A liquid specimen can be directly deposited on the slide using a dropper. Solid specimens, such as skin scraping, can be placed on the slide before adding a drop of liquid to prepare the wet mount. Sometimes the liquid is simply water, but stains are often added...

Instillation and Fixation Methods Useful in Mouse Lung Cancer Research
