Personalized Tms Therapy

Personalized transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) therapy is an individualized form of noninvasive brain stimulation that tailors treatment to a person’s anatomy, neural activity, symptoms, and treatment response. A magnetic coil delivers brief pulses through the scalp to induce electrical currents in targeted cortical regions, while clinicians adjust stimulation location, frequency, intensity, and timing according to patient-specific measurements and ongoing outcomes. In neuroscience, this approach supports more precise investigation and modulation of brain circuits involved in conditions such as depression and other neuropsychiatric disorders. Personalization may improve treatment selection, reduce variability between patients, and clarify how stimulation produces clinical effects.

Using TMS to Measure Motor Excitability During Action Observation

Source: Laboratories of Jonas T. Kaplan and Sarah I. Gimbel—University of Southern California Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is a non-invasive brain stimulation technique that involves passing current through an insulated coil placed against the scalp. A brief magnetic field is created by current in the coil, and because of the physical process of induction, this leads to a current in the nearby neural tissue. Depending on the duration, frequency, and magnitude of these magnetic...

Combining two or more treatment methods increases the life span of cancer patients while reducing damage to vital organs or tissue from the overuse of a single treatment. Combination therapy also targets different cancer-inducing pathways, thus reducing the chances of developing resistance to treatment. The combination of the drug acetazolamide and sulforaphane is a good example of combination therapy to treat cancer. The cells in the interior of a large tumor often die due to the hypoxic and...
