Fluid Comparison

Fluid comparison is the systematic evaluation of how different fluids vary in physical properties and behavior, helping explain their responses under similar conditions. Comparisons commonly consider density, viscosity, pressure, surface tension, and flow rate; these properties determine how a fluid moves, resists deformation, transfers forces, or interacts with surfaces. In physics, comparing liquids and gases supports analysis of buoyancy, drag, hydrostatic pressure, and fluid dynamics through experiments, equations, and models. This approach helps students connect measurable properties with observable motion and enables researchers to select suitable fluids for engineering systems, laboratory studies, environmental analysis, and industrial processes.

The Sense of Self: Reflected Self-Appraisal and Social Comparison

According to Charles Cooley, we base our image on what we think other people see (Cooley 1902). We imagine how we must appear to others, then react to this speculation. We don certain clothes, prepare our hair in a particular manner, wear makeup, use cologne, and the like—all with the notion that our presentation of ourselves is going to affect how others perceive us. We expect a certain reaction, and, if lucky, we get the one we desire and feel good about it. But more than that, Cooley...

Comparison Tests

An infinite series composed of positive terms may either approach a finite value or increase without bound. Determining which outcome occurs is a central task in calculus, and comparison tests provide structured methods for making this determination. Rather than evaluating a series directly, these tests relate it to another series whose behavior is already known, allowing conclusions to be drawn through logical comparison. The direct comparison test applies to series with positive terms. If each...

Year-over-Year Comparison of Balance Sheet

A year-over-year (YoY) balance sheet comparison is a crucial financial analysis method that helps evaluate a company's financial position and performance over a period of time. It involves comparing the balance sheet of the current year with that of the previous year to track changes in key financial components such as assets, liabilities, and shareholders’ equity. For businesses, YoY comparisons provide insight into long-term trends, bypassing the noise of seasonal variations or short-term...

Multiple Comparison Tests

Multiple comparison test, abbreviated as MCT, is a post hoc analysis generally performed after comparing multiple samples with one or more tests. An MCT will help identify a significantly different sample among multiple samples or a factor among multiple factors. It would be easy to compare two samples using a significance alpha level of 0.05. In other words, there is only one sample pair to be compared. However, it would be difficult to identify a significantly different sample if the number...
