Quantitative Analysis

L'analisi quantitativa determina la quantità di uno o più costituenti di un campione, la cui composizione è spesso nota. In caso contrario, viene intrapresa un'analisi qualitativa preliminare per identificare i suoi costituenti.
Nell'analisi quantitativa, il risultato è stimato da due misurazioni: la quantificazione del campione e la misurazione proporzionale di una quantità correlata all'analita.
L'analisi quantitativa può essere classificata in metodi classici e strumentali.
I metodi classici valutano la massa o il volume dell'analita o del suo derivato ottenuto tramite una reazione chimica con un reagente. Al contrario, i metodi strumentali sondano la natura fisica dell'analita nella sua interazione con la radiazione elettromagnetica.
Poiché per l'analisi quantitativa vengono utilizzati diversi campioni e strumenti, è necessaria la calibrazione dei rivelatori. Quindi, viene costruito un grafico di calibrazione utilizzando cuvette contenenti diverse quantità note dello stesso analita, che aiuta a determinare la concentrazione di analita sconosciuta nel campione.

L'analisi quantitativa è una tecnica usata per misurare la quantità di costituenti specifici in un campione. Quando la composizione del campione è sconosciuta, viene prima eseguita un'analisi qualitativa per identificare i suoi componenti, questo fa si che le sostanze corrette vengano misurate durante la fase quantitativa.

Nell'analisi quantitativa, vengono effettuate due misurazioni chiave: la quantità del campione e una proprietà proporzionale alla quantità dell'analita (la sostanza analizzata). Ciò costituisce la base del metodo e garantisce l'accuratezza nel determinare la quantità di concentrazione dell'analita.

L'analisi quantitativa può essere classificata in due tipi principali: metodi classici e metodi strumentali. I metodi classici comportano la misurazione della massa, o del volume dell'analita, o della sua forma chimicamente derivata. Per esempio, l'analisi gravimetrica misura la massa di un precipitato formato da una reazione chimica con l'analita per determinarne la concentrazione. Un altro metodo classico è la titolazione, in cui viene misurato il volume di un reagente necessario per reagire completamente con l'analita.

I metodi strumentali valutano l'interazione tra l'analita e forze fisiche come la radiazione elettromagnetica. Per esempio, nella spettrofotometria, la concentrazione dell'analita è determinata misurando la quantità di luce assorbita dal campione. Un altro esempio è la spettroscopia di assorbimento atomico, in cui la quantità di luce assorbita dagli atomi nel campione fornisce delle informazioni sulla concentrazione dell'analita.

Le curve di calibrazione svolgono un ruolo fondamentale nell'analisi quantitativa. I rilevatori e gli strumenti devono essere calibrati utilizzando concentrazioni note dell'analita, in genere inserite in cuvette. Questi valori noti vengono usati per generare un grafico di calibrazione. Questo strumento è fondamentale e garantisce l'accuratezza dell'analisi aiutando a determinare la concentrazione dell'analita sconosciuto nel campione.

Quantitative analysis measures the amount of a specific substance, called the analyte, in a sample. If the sample composition is unknown, qualitative analysis comes first. That step identifies the components so the correct substances can be measured during the quantitative phase.

This method depends on two key measurements. Scientists measure the sample quantity and also a property that is proportional to the amount of analyte. Together, these measurements help determine the analyte concentration accurately.

Quantitative analysis is usually grouped into classical methods and instrumental methods. Classical methods measure mass or volume, either of the analyte itself or of a chemically derived form. Gravimetric analysis is one example. It measures the mass of a precipitate formed in a chemical reaction with the analyte. Titration is another classical method. It measures the volume of a reactant needed to fully react with the analyte.

Instrumental methods use the analyte’s interaction with physical forces, such as electromagnetic radiation. In spectrophotometry, concentration is found by measuring how much light the sample absorbs. Atomic absorption spectroscopy uses the amount of light absorbed by atoms in the sample to show the analyte concentration.

Calibration curves are a major part of quantitative analysis. Detectors and instruments are calibrated with known concentrations of the analyte, often placed in cuvettes. These known values are used to make a calibration plot. The plot helps scientists find the concentration of the unknown analyte in the sample and improves the accuracy of the analysis.
