L'equazione del momento di momento analizza la coppia prodotta dalle pale rotanti di una turbina eolica.
L'equazione del momento di quantità di moto si trova applicando la seconda legge di Newton a una piccola particella fluida. Questa legge afferma che la velocità di variazione della quantità di moto lineare è uguale alla forza esterna che agisce su di essa.
Il momento di forza viene calcolato considerando la posizione della particella fluida per determinare la coppia.
Il vettore di posizione è combinato con la forza esterna per trovare la coppia che agisce sulla particella.
La derivata temporale viene quindi espansa in due parti. Una parte rappresenta la velocità di variazione del momento angolare dovuta alla velocità del fluido, mentre l'altra rappresenta il modo in cui il fluido si muove nello spazio.
Il cambiamento di posizione nel tempo è uguale alla velocità della particella, semplificando l'espansione.
L'equazione del momento di momento si ottiene integrando questi termini sul volume di controllo.
Questa equazione mette in relazione la coppia sul sistema con il momento angolare in entrata e in uscita dal volume di controllo e le forze esterne che agiscono su di esso.

The moment-of-momentum equation helps explain how wind turbine blades create torque. Torque is the turning effect of a force around an axis. In rotating systems, this equation links the motion of the wind with the force acting on it.

The equation begins with Newton's second law for a fluid particle. That law says the rate of change of linear momentum equals the external force on the particle. To find torque, the position of the particle relative to the rotation axis is combined with that force.

The next step is to expand the time derivative of the moment of momentum. One part describes the change in angular momentum caused by the particle's own velocity. The other part accounts for the fluid moving through space.

Because the change in position over time equals the particle's velocity, the expression simplifies. The final form is found by integrating over the control volume, which is the region of fluid that interacts with the turbine.
