Design Example: Creating a Hydraulic Model of a Dam Spillway

Un modello idraulico di uno sfioratore di diga viene spesso creato ridimensionando il progetto, in genere a un rapporto di 1:15, per replicare le caratteristiche chiave del flusso come la distribuzione della velocità, i modelli di flusso, la turbolenza e la dissipazione di energia.
Questo modello in scala ridotta consente un esame dettagliato del flusso d'acqua sullo sfioratore.
Il modello segue la somiglianza dei numeri di Froude per mantenere le forze gravitazionali e inerziali proporzionali, necessarie per rappresentare accuratamente i flussi a superficie libera che si verificano nella struttura a grandezza naturale.
