Similarly, a sense of personal control, or the belief in one's ability to manage situations, can reduce stress during challenging times by fostering effective problem-solving strategies.
This sense of control has been linked to a lower risk of chronic diseases, including cancer and cardiovascular issues, as well as improved emotional well-being and successful coping.
Additionally, self-efficacy, or the belief in one's ability to achieve goals, positively influences behavior changes, including weight loss, exercise, smoking cessation, and substance use reduction.
Individuals with high self-efficacy experience better cardiovascular outcomes after heart failure, showing reduced risk of rehospitalization and increased longevity.
