Management Approaches

Management approaches are organized strategies for addressing a patient’s condition, symptoms, risks, and care goals through coordinated clinical decisions. In practice, clinicians assess the patient, establish or refine a diagnosis, weigh potential benefits and harms, and select interventions such as observation, medication, procedures, rehabilitation, or supportive care; follow-up findings then guide adjustment of the plan. These approaches help individualize treatment, promote shared decision-making, and support continuity across clinical settings. Comparing management options also clarifies when escalation, referral, or additional testing may be appropriate, making the concept relevant to evidence-based practice, clinical research, and improving patient outcomes.

Multidisciplinary Approach to Obesity Management: A Case Report

2025

Obesity care is best delivered after in-depth initial screening and evaluation, using an individualized approach comprising multidisciplinary care, evidence-based lifestyle behavioral change strategies, and frequent follow-up. We illustrate a successful 6 month course of weight loss treatment, resulting in reversal of obesity-related chronic conditions and improvement in diet, sleep, mood, and physical fitness.

All animal procedures described here must be conducted in accordance with institutional animal ethics guidelines and approved by IACUC. All procedures must follow the principles of the 3Rs—Replacement, Reduction, and Refinement—and must be performed by trained personnel. Monitoring Animals for Signs of Pain and Distress Recognizing early signs of pain is essential for ethical animal research. Animals are routinely monitored using behavioral, physical, and physiological parameters that reflect...

Here, we present a protocol to utilize machine-vision software to stabilize dynamic processes during TEM imaging, while concurrently indexing multiple streams of metadata to each image into a navigable timeline. We demonstrate how this platform enables automated calibration and mapping of the electron dose over the course of an experiment.

All animal procedures described here must be conducted in accordance with institutional animal ethics guidelines and approved by IACUC. All procedures must follow the principles of the 3Rs—Replacement, Reduction, and Refinement—and must be performed by trained personnel. Breeding management supports the 3Rs by minimizing unnecessary animal production and ensuring that only the number of animals required for a study is generated. Effective breeding strategies help reduce surplus animals and...

Measuring and Mapping Patterns of Soil Erosion and Deposition Related to Soil Carbonate Concentrations Under Agricultural Management

2017

Spatial patterns of soil erosion and deposition can be inferred from differences in ground elevation mapped at appropriate time increments. Such changes in elevation are related to changes in near-surface soil carbonates. Repeatable methods for field and laboratory measurements of these quantities and data analysis methods are described here.
