Met Visualization

MET visualization is the imaging-based detection and characterization of macrophage extracellular traps, web-like structures that macrophages release during innate immune responses. When activated by microbial or inflammatory signals, macrophages can expel decondensed chromatin coated with cellular proteins, creating extracellular networks that capture or restrict pathogens. Fluorescence microscopy typically combines DNA staining with immunolabeling of macrophage or trap-associated components to distinguish METs from intact cells and nonspecific cell death. This approach helps investigators study antimicrobial defense, macrophage activation, and host-pathogen interactions, while enabling comparisons of trap formation across infection models and evaluation of its potential contribution to inflammation and tissue injury.

An in vitro method for establishing dual resistance to an EGFR-TKI and a MET-TKI in cancer cells is described. This method is useful for developing treatments for patients with EGFR-mutations, who exhibit disease progression despite EGFR-TKI treatment with MET-amplification. It can also be modified for inhibitors targeting other molecules.
