National Wealth

National wealth is the total stock of assets and resources that a country owns or controls, offering a broader measure of economic capacity than annual income or gross domestic product. It is assessed through national wealth accounting, which values produced capital such as buildings and infrastructure alongside financial assets, natural resources, and, in some frameworks, human capital, while accounting for depreciation and depletion. In macroeconomics, these measures help explain long-term living standards, productivity, and resilience. Tracking changes in national wealth also supports evaluation of public investment, environmental sustainability, resource management, and policies aimed at preserving economic opportunities for future generations.
