Factor Analysis

Factor analysis is a statistical method for reducing many correlated observed variables to a smaller set of underlying latent factors, helping researchers identify the dimensions that organize complex data. It estimates how strongly each measured variable loads on each factor by analyzing patterns in a correlation or covariance matrix; extraction and rotation procedures then produce a more interpretable factor structure. In marketing, researchers use factor analysis to condense survey items into constructs such as brand perceptions, service quality, or purchase motivations, refine questionnaires, support customer segmentation, and inform positioning and product decisions.
