Rheum Officinale Baill

Rheum officinale Baill is a medicinal plant, commonly known as Chinese rhubarb, whose dried roots and rhizomes have long been used in traditional and modern herbal medicine. Its principal anthraquinone compounds, including emodin and rhein, are metabolized by intestinal bacteria and act in the colon to stimulate peristalsis and increase fluid secretion, producing a laxative effect. Preparations are used primarily for short-term relief of constipation and are also investigated for their broader pharmacological activities. Because excessive or prolonged use may cause abdominal cramping, electrolyte disturbances, and dependence on laxatives, medicinal applications require careful dosing and evaluation of safety.

Microplate Assistive Pipetting Light Emitter (M.A.P.L.E.) is a computer-driven device that systematically illuminates microtiter wells to provide guidance for the manual preparation of microplates. M.A.P.L.E. improves the accuracy of microplate preparation while automating data recordkeeping. In addition, it can assist with examining microplate quality or aid in the detection of errors.
