Vasoactive Stimuli Testing

Vasoactive stimuli testing is a clinical and research approach for evaluating how blood vessels respond to substances that alter vascular tone, providing insight into endothelial and smooth-muscle function. During testing, a vasoactive agent is administered or applied under controlled conditions, and changes in vessel diameter, blood flow, or blood pressure are measured; responses to endothelium-dependent and endothelium-independent stimuli can help distinguish underlying mechanisms. In medicine, this assessment supports investigation of endothelial dysfunction, abnormal vasomotor regulation, and vascular disease. It also helps evaluate cardiovascular risk, clarify mechanisms of symptoms, and assess responses to potential therapies.

2014

The distractor-response binding paradigm is described. It can be used to shed light on the influence irrelevant stimuli, competing with targets for a response, can have on human action. Both response retrieval effects and distractor inhibition effects can be analyzed within the paradigm.

A Testing Platform for Durability Studies of Polymers and Fiber-reinforced Polymer Composites under Concurrent Hygrothermo-mechanical Stimuli

2014

The durability of polymers and fiber-reinforced polymer composites in service is a critical aspect for their designs and condition-based maintenance. We present a novel low-cost laboratory testing platform for the investigation of the influence of concurrent mechanical and environmental loadings, and may help design more efficient yet safer composite structures.

Anxiety Testing

2023

Anxiety is a commonly observed behavioral disorder that stems from fear. It is described as increased restlessness, or unpleasant feelings of fear over anticipated events. Experimenters often use rodent models to better understand anxiety disorders in humans. They use different paradigms, like exposing rodents to bright spaces or loud sounds, which are known to induce fear. These tests combined with other interventions such as surgery or drug-administration may assist researchers in pinpointing...

A Battery of Quantitative Binocular Vision Tests for Adults: Testing Protocols

2026

Here we present a comprehensive battery of tasks to assess binocular vision. Tasks include peripheral stereoacuity and motion-in-depth, which are not assessed by current clinical tests. Incorporating these tasks will provide an in-depth assessment of an individual’s binocularity.
