Human Body Conductivity

Human body conductivity is the ability of tissues and body fluids to carry electric current, a physical property that influences how electrical signals and external fields move through the body. It arises mainly from mobile ions dissolved in water, while cell membranes, tissue composition, hydration, temperature, and signal frequency alter current pathways and measured impedance. In physics and biomedical research, conductivity measurements support bioimpedance analysis, electrical stimulation, medical imaging, and the interpretation of bioelectric signals such as those recorded by electrocardiography. These applications help characterize tissue properties and monitor physiological changes without relying solely on invasive sampling.

Classical fear conditioning paradigm was adapted for human participants in a fully immersive virtual reality setting. Using a discrimination paradigm, conditioned fear, cue and context memory retention, and extinction was measured with skin conductance response to dynamic virtual snakes and spiders (the conditioned stimuli) in two distinct virtual contexts.

Role of Proteins in the Human Body

2023

Proteins are the building block of life. They are also the most abundant macromolecules with as many diverse roles in the body. They are part of many structural components that provide unique shapes and structures to animal cells, tissues, and organs. In addition, they also act as biological catalysts and carry out several anabolic and catabolic reactions. Notably, some proteins are chemical messengers and regulate many critical processes, such as metabolism, growth, and development. They are...

Structural Organization of the Human Body: An Overview

2025

It is convenient to consider the body's structures in terms of fundamental levels of organization that increase in complexity: subatomic particles, atoms, molecules, organelles, cells, tissues, organs, organ systems, and organisms. To study the chemical level of organization, scientists consider the simplest building blocks of matter: subatomic particles, atoms, and molecules. All matter in the universe is composed of one or more unique pure substances called elements, familiar examples of...
