フロイトは転移の重要性を強調しました。転移とは、クライアントが人生における重要な人物に対する感情をセラピストに投影することです。この現象は、関係のパターンや未解決の感情を知るための窓口となり、セラピストはクライアントがそれを処理できるように支援できます。逆に、抵抗は、治療の進行を妨げる無意識の防衛メカニズムを反映しています。精神分析医は、これらの抵抗に対処して理解し、クライアントが困難な真実に立ち向かうのを支援します。

Lastly, by working through techniques, therapists help clients address conflicts and resistance, like changing habits of avoidance to adopt healthier communication strategies.
