Health Education

Health education is the planned process of helping individuals and communities gain knowledge, skills, and confidence to make informed decisions about health, prevention, and care. In clinical settings, it works through patient assessment, clear communication, instruction, and feedback, with information adapted to a person’s condition, needs, and ability to understand and apply it. Health education supports informed consent, medication and treatment self-management, risk reduction, and shared decision-making across encounters. By linking evidence-based guidance with practical behavior change, it can strengthen patient participation, improve continuity of care, and contribute to safer, more effective clinical outcomes.
