Single Cell Detection

Single cell detection is the identification and measurement of individual cells within a mixed population, a capability that reveals rare cell types and biological variation hidden by bulk analysis. It typically separates or images cells and then uses cell-specific physical, molecular, or functional signals, such as fluorescence, surface markers, nucleic acids, or secreted products, to distinguish and quantify them. In medicine, single cell detection supports pathogen identification, circulating tumor cell analysis, immune profiling, and early disease characterization. By linking cellular heterogeneity to clinical phenotypes, it can improve diagnosis, treatment selection, and monitoring while informing research on disease progression and therapeutic response.
