Coin Fairness

Coin fairness is a statistical concept describing whether a coin produces heads and tails with equal probability over repeated tosses, making it a simple model for random outcomes. Its assessment compares observed results with the expected 50:50 distribution, using probability calculations, the law of large numbers, and hypothesis tests to distinguish ordinary variation from evidence of bias. In statistics, coin fairness provides an accessible foundation for sampling, binomial models, confidence intervals, and significance testing. It also illustrates why short sequences can appear uneven even when a coin is fair, while larger datasets generally provide stronger evidence about the underlying probability.

Fair Value Principle

2025

The fair value principle in accounting mandates measuring and reporting assets and liabilities at their current market value rather than their historical purchase cost. This principle aims to present a more accurate and timely reflection of an entity’s financial position, particularly in environments characterized by fluctuating market conditions. Fair value accounting is especially relevant for financial instruments and other assets whose values are sensitive to market dynamics.Under fair...

2026

A design is presented to enable cost-effective low-temperature battery cycling for 2032 coin cells in a low-humidity environment. Cells are cycled at 0 °C inside a chamber cooled by thermoelectric modules. This simple design can be adapted for experiments that require similar thermal and humidity-controlled environments or different battery geometries.
