A factorial design uses two or more independent variables in one experiment. A 2 x 2 factorial design is a common example. It lets students see how more than one factor can shape an outcome at the same time.

This experiment uses self-awareness and self-esteem as the two independent variables. It explores whether they affect the ability to decipher nonverbal signals. The design also shows how a factorial experiment differs from other designs and why it can be useful.
