Transcription

전사(transcription)는 DNA 주형에서 RNA를 합성하는 과정입니다.
주형 DNA에서 transcription pre-initiation complex는 유전자의 핵심 프로모터 주위로 조립됩니다. 프로모터에는 TATA 상자와 이니시에이터 시퀀스가 포함됩니다. 일반적인 전사 인자는 TATA box에서 결합하는 반면, 개시 인자 염기서열은 전사 시작 부위를 포함합니다.
필요한 구성 요소가 결합되면 preinitiation complex는 전사 시작 부위의 상류에서 DNA의 짧은 스트레치를 풀어냅니다. 그 후, 일반적인 전사 인자는 가닥에서 해리되고 RNA 중합효소는 새로운 mRNA 가닥을 생성하기 시작합니다.
뉴클레오티드가 하나씩 추가되고 mRNA의 합성은 티미딘이 우리딘으로 대체되는 것을 제외하고는 주형 가닥에서 판독하면서 5 프라임에서 3 프라임 방향으로 발생합니다.
