Explain the procedure to ensure understanding and cooperation, provide privacy, and expose only the axilla to minimize exposure while keeping the patient warm. Inform the patient that minimal movement is crucial for an accurate reading and offer assistance as needed throughout the measurement process.

Perform hand hygiene and put on clean gloves before the procedure to prevent cross-contamination. After measurement, dispose of the disposable probe cover by ejecting it directly into a waste receptacle to avoid reuse, then remove gloves and perform hand hygiene again to maintain infection control standards.

Place the thermometer probe in the center of the axilla, the deepest part, for the most accurate reading. Raise the patient's arm away from their torso to expose the axilla fully before probe insertion, ensuring proper contact with skin tissue for reliable temperature measurement.

Carefully remove the probe and note the temperature reading.
