Nanosizing

Nanosizing is the process of reducing a material, particularly a pharmaceutical active ingredient, to nanoscale dimensions to improve its performance in clinical formulations. By decreasing particle size, nanosizing increases surface area and shortens diffusion distances, which can accelerate dissolution and enhance the absorption of poorly water-soluble drugs; techniques such as wet media milling and high-pressure homogenization are commonly used to produce stable nanosuspensions. Clinically, nanosized formulations may improve bioavailability, enable more consistent dosing, and support drug delivery when conventional formulations dissolve slowly or require high doses. Their development also requires careful control of particle stability, aggregation, and safety.
