Surgical Mouse Model

A surgical mouse model is an experimental system in which a defined surgical procedure creates or reproduces a physiological state, injury, or disease relevant to human medicine. Under controlled conditions, researchers use anesthesia, sterile technique, tissue manipulation, and postoperative monitoring to alter anatomy or function while limiting unintended effects. These models support studies of disease mechanisms, tissue repair, inflammation, and therapeutic safety or efficacy. By enabling researchers to measure biological responses over time and compare treated with control animals, surgical mouse models connect mechanistic findings with clinically relevant outcomes and help guide the development of new medical interventions.
