Timp-2 Igfbp-7

TIMP-2 and IGFBP7 are urinary biomarkers of cellular stress used in medicine to assess a patient’s risk of developing acute kidney injury (AKI). When renal tubular epithelial cells experience stress, these proteins increase and promote temporary G1 cell-cycle arrest, a protective response that pauses cell division while damage is addressed; their urinary concentrations are combined as the product [TIMP-2] × [IGFBP7]. This measurement can identify kidney injury risk before conventional indicators such as rising serum creatinine, supporting earlier clinical monitoring and intervention. The biomarkers are especially relevant in critically ill patients and in research on mechanisms, prediction, and management of AKI.

The sensitivity gain inherent to ultrahigh field magnetic resonance holds promise for high spatial resolution imaging of the heart. Here, we describe a protocol customized for functional cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) at 7 Tesla using an advanced multi-channel radio-frequency coil, magnetic field shimming and a triggering concept.

Here, we present a protocol to detect total cellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) using 2',7'-dichlorodihydrofluorescein diacetate (DCFH-DA). This method can visualize cellular ROS localization in adherent cells with a fluorescence microscope and quantify ROS intensity with a fluorescence plate reader. This protocol is simple, efficient and cost-effective.

Caspase-3/7 Assay: A Luminescence-Based Assay to Quantify Apoptosis by Measuring Caspase-3/7 Activities in Frog Skin Explants

2025

This video describes an in vitro Caspase-3/7 luminescent assay to quantify cell death or apoptosis. The assay measures luminescence produced following caspase-3/7 cleavage of a pro-luminescent DEVD substrate. The luminescence generated is proportional to caspase-3/7 activity.

Here, we propose a systematized, accessible, and reproducible protocol to detect cellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) using 2′,7′-dichlorofluorescein diacetate probe (DCFH-DA) in Müller glial cells (MGCs). This method quantifies total cellular ROS levels with a flow cytometer. This protocol is very easy to use, suitable, and reproducible.
