MRI는 비침습적이고 매우 민감하다는 장점이 있습니다: 질병의 초기 단계에서 철 침착을 감지할 수 있습니다. 특히, FDRI(Field-dependent R2 Increase) 기술은 페리틴철 및 헴-철16과 같은 다양한 형태의 철을 구별할 수 있습니다. 그러나 MRI는 세포 수준에서 철분 축적을 감지할 수 없고 비용이 많이 들기 때문에 주로 임상 조사에 사용됩니다17.
