Markdowns occur when items are sold at a discount due to overproduction or incorrect demand forecasts. Frequent discounts often signal problems with inventory control.
Out-of-stock metrics track the unavailability of products, which can lead to missed sales opportunities. Empty shelves of popular products indicate poor inventory management.
