A three-dimensional system has an equivalent resultant force and a resultant couple moment that are not mutually perpendicular.
The resultant couple moment can be resolved into components parallel and perpendicular to the resultant force's line of action.
The perpendicular component can be replaced if the resultant force is moved by a perpendicular distance.
This combination of a resultant force and collinear couple moment translates and rotates the body about its axis, referred to as a wrench or screw.
Consider three forces acting on the brick. Replace them with a wrench and find the point where it intersects the brick.
Firstly, find the resultant force and its magnitude.
Then consider the position vectors from the point of application of the forces to the point of intersection.
Their cross product with the corresponding forces gives the resultant couple moment.
Now, determine the unit vector of the resultant force.
The resultant moment equals the product of its magnitude and the unit vector.
Equating the components and solving the equations gives the coordinates of the point of intersection.
