Oxytocin is synthesized in the hypothalamus and secreted by the pituitary gland, fostering bonding and social interactions by promoting feelings of trust, empathy, and connection.
Cortisol, the stress hormone, is produced by the adrenal glands. It increases blood glucose levels for energy, manages stress, and regulates blood pressure.
Epinephrine, also known as adrenaline, is released during stress. It accelerates heart rate, expands air passages, and boosts energy, preparing the body for quick responses to threats.
Estrogen is vital for female reproductive health. It regulates menstrual cycles, aids reproductive development, and affects bone density, skin health, and cholesterol management.
Testosterone, primarily a male hormone, is essential for the development of reproductive tissue, enhances muscle and bone mass, promotes body hair growth, and influences libido and mood stability.
Lastly, thyroxine, produced by the thyroid gland, is essential for metabolism and energy management. It influences heart rate, digestion, brain development, and bone health.
