Metacognition is a conscious process where individuals are aware of their cognitive processes and executive functioning.
For example, a writer reflecting on their chapter-writing approach may notice they are overanalyzing a scene. They could then choose to step back and redirect their focus, visualizing ways to advance their characters in the subsequent chapter. This reflection of their thinking and cognitive processes may help the writer continue smoothly, showing metacognition.

For example, a student might realize that visual aids help them understand material better. This insight might lead them to use educational videos and memory charts in their study routines.
Effective use of metacognition allows for better adaptation to new learning situations.
