Cardiovascular assessment involves gathering subjective data covering the following elements.
First, ask the patient to verbalize about past medical and surgical history affecting the cardiovascular system.
Then, enquire about current symptoms such as chest pain, dyspnea, fatigue, dizziness, nausea, edema, and palpitations.
Next, assess the patient's current and past medication use, including dose and timing. Also, inquire about Over-the-Counter medications and herbal supplements the patient consumes.
Additionally, assess lifestyle factors like smoking history, alcohol consumption, diet patterns, and physical activity, and review significant weight changes over the past year.
Furthermore, evaluate the patient's functional health patterns, including perception of cardiovascular health, treatment adherence, nutritional habits, sleep quality, cognitive changes, pain experiences, and impacts on roles and relationships.
Finally, discuss changes in sexual function due to cardiovascular conditions or medications and identify sources of stress and coping methods.
