Ryr Cluster Simulation

RyR cluster simulation is a computational approach for representing groups of ryanodine receptors (RyRs), calcium-release channels in the sarcoplasmic or endoplasmic reticulum, and their role in intracellular calcium signaling. Models typically assign channels spatial positions and stochastic gating behaviors, then calculate how calcium released through one channel alters the local concentration sensed by neighboring channels, producing coupled opening, termination, or regenerative calcium-induced calcium release. In bioengineering, these simulations connect nanoscale cluster organization with whole-cell calcium transients and test how receptor spacing, channel activity, or membrane conditions influence signal amplitude and timing. The results support mechanistic interpretation of experiments and engineered models of calcium-dependent cellular systems.

Spatial Separation of Molecular Conformers and Clusters

2014

We present a technique that allows the spatial separation of different conformers or clusters present in a molecular beam. An electrostatic deflector is used to separate species by their mass-to-dipole moment ratio, leading to the production of gas-phase ensembles of a single conformer or cluster stoichiometry.

Cluster Sampling Method

2023

Appropriate sampling methods ensure that samples are drawn without bias and accurately represent the population. Because measuring the entire population in a study is not practical, researchers use samples to represent the population of interest. To choose a cluster sample, divide the population into clusters (groups) and then randomly select some of the clusters. All the members from these clusters are in the cluster sample. For example, if you randomly sample four departments from your...

Vesicular Tubular Clusters

2023

After budding out from the ER membrane, some COPII vesicles lose their coat and fuse with one another to form larger vesicles and interconnected tubules called vesicular tubular clusters or VTCs. These clusters constitute a compartment at the ER-Golgi interface known as ERGIC (Endoplasmic Reticulum Golgi Intermediate Compartment). The ERGIC is a mobile membrane-bound cargo transport system that sorts proteins secreted from ER and delivers them to the Golgi. With the help of motor proteins such...

MPI CyberMotion Simulator: Implementation of a Novel Motion Simulator to Investigate Multisensory Path Integration in Three Dimensions

2012

An efficient way to gain insight into how humans navigate themselves in three dimensions is described. The method takes advantage of a motion simulator capable of moving observers in ways unattainable by traditional simulators. Results confirm that movement in the horizontal plane is underestimated, while vertical movement is overestimated.

Study of Siphon Breaker Experiment and Simulation for a Research Reactor

2017

The siphon breaking phenomenon was investigated experimentally and a theoretical model was proposed. A simulation program based on the theoretical model was developed and the results of the simulation program were compared with experimental results. It was concluded that the results of the simulation program matched the experimental results well.
