Synvivo Smn

SynVivo SMN is a microfluidic platform that recreates key features of a small microvascular network, enabling controlled study of cell and tissue behavior under flow. Its interconnected channels support fluid perfusion and can be lined with endothelial cells to model vascular interfaces, while precisely regulated flow produces physiologically relevant shear conditions. In bioengineering, SynVivo SMN helps researchers investigate vascular permeability, leukocyte adhesion, cell migration, and interactions between circulating cells and vessel walls. By providing a reproducible alternative to conventional static cultures, the platform supports studies of vascular biology, disease mechanisms, drug responses, and the development of engineered microphysiological systems.

Flow chambers used in adhesion experiments typically consist of linear flow paths and require multiple experiments at different flow rates to generate a shear adhesion map. SynVivo-SMN enables the generation of shear adhesion map using a single experiment utilizing microliter volumes resulting in significant savings in time and consumables.
