Anticancer Medications

Anticancer medications are drugs used to treat cancer by eliminating malignant cells, slowing their growth, or preventing spread, making them central to clinical oncology. Depending on the drug class, they act by damaging DNA, blocking cell division, inhibiting oncogenic signaling, altering hormone stimulation, or activating immune recognition of tumor cells. In practice, clinicians select and combine treatments according to tumor type, stage, molecular biomarkers, prior therapy, and patient health while monitoring response and adverse effects. These medicines support curative treatment, disease control, and symptom relief, while ongoing development aims to improve precision, overcome resistance, and reduce toxicity.

An Assay To Evaluate the Anticancer Effects of Lactobacillus Cell-Free Supernatant

2025

This video demonstrates an in vitro assay to study the anticancer effects of Lactobacillus cell-free supernatant (LCFS). Upon exposing colorectal cancer spheroids to varying doses of LCFS, the interaction with the bacterial metabolites in LCFS induces apoptosis in the cancer cells, disrupting the spheroid structure and leading to cell death in a dose-dependent manner.

Colony Formation Assay: Assessing the Efficacy of Anticancer Agents on Colony-Forming Lung Cancer Cells

2023

This video describes the colony formation assay, which helps determine lung cancer cells' ability to proliferate indefinitely and form individual colonies. We can analyze the effect of an anticancer agent on the colony-forming cells by analyzing the changes in the number and/or size of the resulting colonies.
