Gelatin Coated Cover Slips

Gelatin coated cover slips are glass surfaces treated with a thin layer of gelatin to support cell attachment and specimen handling in microscopy-based research. Gelatin adsorbs to the glass and provides an extracellular matrix-like substrate, improving adhesion, spreading, and retention of adherent cells during fixation, staining, and imaging. In immunology and infection studies, these cover slips help prepare reliable samples for immunofluorescence, allowing researchers to localize immune markers, host-cell proteins, or pathogen-associated signals at cellular resolution. Consistent coating can improve sample quality and reproducibility, supporting investigations of cell activation, host-pathogen interactions, and infection-related changes in cellular structure.

Rolling Without Slipping

2023

People have observed the rolling motion without slipping ever since the invention of the wheel. For example, one can look at the interaction between a car's tires and the surface of the road. If the driver presses the accelerator to the floor so that the tires spin without the car moving forward, there must be kinetic friction between the wheels and the road's surface. If the driver slowly presses the accelerator, causing the car to move forward, the tires roll without slipping. It is essential...

Rolling With Slipping

Rolling with slipping is a physical phenomenon that occurs when a rolling object experiences both rotational and linear motion but also experiences frictional forces that cause slipping. This phenomenon can occur in various situations, such as when a tire rolls on a wet road or a ball rolls on a rough surface. An object's rolling motion is characterized by its rotation around its axis, while linear motion refers to the object's translational motion along a surface. Frictional forces can affect...

2016

We present a facile method to fabricate a biodegradable gelatin-based drug release platform that is magneto-thermally responsive. This was achieved by incorporating superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles and poly(N-isopropylacrylamide-co-acrylamide) within a spherical gelatin micro-network crosslinked by genipin, in conjunction with an alternating magnetic field application system.

Type B gelatin-based engineered nanovectors system (GENS) was developed for systemic gene delivery and transfection in the treatment of pancreatic cancer. By modification with epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) specific peptide on the surface of nanparticles, they could target on EGFR receptor and release plasmid under reducing environment, such as high intracellular glutathione concentrations.
