Fat Transposition

Fat transposition is a surgical technique that relocates existing adipose tissue to restore contour, fill tissue depressions, or improve the relationship between adjacent anatomical structures. In lower-eyelid surgery, orbital fat is carefully released from its original compartment and repositioned across the infraorbital rim, where it can soften the tear trough and reduce the sharp transition between the eyelid and cheek. Unlike simple fat excision, this approach preserves and redistributes tissue while addressing lower-eyelid bulging and under-eye hollowing. Fat transposition is used primarily in aesthetic and reconstructive medicine, with outcomes influenced by anatomy, tissue quality, surgical technique, and postoperative healing.

Overview of Transposition and Recombination

2020

Transposons make up a significant part of genomes of various organisms. Therefore, it is believed that transposition played a major evolutionary role in speciation by changing genome sizes and modifying gene expression patterns. For example, in bacteria, transposition can lead to conferring antibiotic resistance. Movement of transposable elements within the genetic pool of pathogenic bacteria can aid in transfer of antibiotic-resistant genetic elements. In eukaryotes, transposons can carry out...

We describe an ovarian fad pad transplantation assay suitable for studies of normal and transformed epithelia of the female reproductive tract. The mouse fat pad allows transplantation of large tissue fragments, is easily accessible for surgery and imaging, and provides the most favorable native environment for tissues of Müllerian origin.
