Sterile Surgical Technique

Sterile surgical technique is a set of practices used to prevent microorganisms from entering a surgical field, protecting patients from procedure-related infection. It works through aseptic preparation, including hand antisepsis, sterile gloves and gowns, instrument sterilization, skin preparation, and maintenance of a controlled sterile field; these measures limit microbial transfer during surgery. In medicine, the technique supports safe invasive procedures ranging from minor operations to major surgery and is especially important when implanted devices, open tissues, or vulnerable patients are involved. Consistent application reduces contamination risk, promotes surgical safety, and strengthens infection prevention in operating rooms and other procedural settings.

The use of cell lines and tissue cultures that originated from research animals is a replacement technique, as it allows for many experiments to be conducted in vitro. Harvesting...

Surgical Technique for the Implantation of a Biomimetic Artificial Intervertebral Disc in a Goat Animal Model

2025

This study presents a novel surgical technique for implanting a biomimetic artificial intervertebral disc (BioAID). The method ensures precise placement and stability, aiming to restore cervical spine function using a goat model. This technique shows promise for clinical application in both human and canine patients suffering from cervical spine myelopathy.

A Standardized Surgical Technique for Tessier Medial Transnasal Canthopexy

Medial canthopexy allows correction of the position and fixation of the medial canthal tendon. Due to the technical difficulties of this procedure, there is a need for a detailed protocol for educational purposes. Here, we describe a standardized reproducible technique for bilateral medial transnasal canthopexy by an orbitonasal approach.

Cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization are the methods that help to break the infection chain and prevent disease. Cleaning The cleaning process usually involves using water with detergents or enzymatic cleaner and removing foreign material from objects and surfaces, including organic material such as body fluids or inorganic material like soil. Cleaning is performed before high-level disinfection and sterilization because foreign materials on the cover of the devices interfere with process...
