Lesion Detection Improvement

Lesion detection improvement refers to methods that increase the ability to identify abnormal tissue in medical images, an important goal in cancer research and diagnosis. These approaches enhance the distinction between lesions and surrounding tissue by improving image contrast, reducing noise, optimizing acquisition conditions, or applying computational analysis to highlight suspicious regions. Better detection can support earlier recognition, more consistent lesion assessment, treatment planning, and monitoring of disease progression or response. In research, improved lesion identification also strengthens imaging-based studies by enabling more reliable measurements of tumor location, size, and change over time.

Handheld Device for Saliva Pretreatment to Improve Cortisol Detection

2026

This protocol describes a rapid saliva pretreatment method for improving cortisol detection. A handheld filtration device is used to remove mucins and other interfering substances while preserving the target analyte. The pretreated saliva exhibits improved capillary flow, thereby enabling more consistent and reproducible assay performance.

2025

The development of an automated joint space detection workflow enabled high-throughput segmentation of distinct murine hindpaw bones with >98% accuracy in wild-type animals. Flexible application to forepaws and paws with inflammatory-erosive arthritis was achieved, but with deprecated performance that warrants further optimization in future studies using publicly available data.

We developed a method to successfully remove, process, section, and stain, for histopathological evaluation, mammary tissue that had originally been fixed on slides as whole mounts. This method may promote the collection and evaluation of mammary gland whole mounts in reproductive and developmental test guideline studies.
