Glass Needle Suturing

Glass needle suturing is a microsurgical technique that uses a fine, pulled glass needle to join, close, or stabilize delicate biological tissues under microscopic observation. The needle applies controlled mechanical force to guide tissue edges into contact, allowing wound closure or repair while minimizing damage to surrounding cells. In developmental biology, this approach supports precise manipulation of embryos and developing tissues, enabling researchers to examine epithelial repair, morphogenesis, cell migration, and tissue mechanics. By controlling how and when tissues are connected, glass needle suturing helps reveal how local cellular behaviors contribute to development and regeneration.

The Looking Glass Self

2025

The concept of the looking-glass self describes how an individual's self-concept is shaped by their perception of how others see them. This psychological theory, first introduced by sociologist Charles Horton Cooley in 1902, posits that self-identity emerges in a social context and is influenced by the judgments—real or imagined—of others.Research suggests that individuals frequently overestimate how positively others perceive them. This is particularly evident in physical self-perception,...

Reverse Needle Continuous Suture of the Pancreatic Duct to Jejunal Mucosal Pancreaticointestinal Anastomosis in Laparoscopic Pancreaticoduodenectomy

2025

To circumvent the difficulty in completing the anastomosis of the pancreatic duct and jejunal mucosa under laparoscopy for patients with a small pancreatic duct and soft and fragile pancreatic tissue, we introduce a reverse needle continuous suture technique for laparoscopic pancreaticojejunostomy of the pancreatic duct and jejunal mucosa.
