Boards

Boards are flat engineered platforms or panels designed to support, organize, connect, or protect components in a larger system, making them fundamental to structural, electrical, and manufacturing applications. Their function depends on material composition, geometry, and interfaces: a structural board distributes applied loads across its surface, while a circuit board routes electrical signals through conductive paths between mounted components. Engineers select board materials and layouts according to stiffness, strength, insulation, thermal behavior, manufacturability, and operating conditions. Boards therefore enable lightweight construction, compact electronic assemblies, rapid prototyping, and reliable system integration across engineering disciplines.

Introduction to the Power Pole Board

2023

Source: Ali Bazzi, Department of Electrical Engineering, University of Connecticut, Storrs, CT. DC/DC converters are power electronic converters that convert DC voltages and currents from a certain level to another level. Typically, voltage conversion is the main purpose of DC/DC converters and three main types of conversion exist in a single converter: stepping up, stepping down, and stepping up or down. Among the most common step-up converters are boost converters (Refer to this collections...

2014

Body segmental inertial properties are required for inverse dynamics modeling. Using an oscillation and reaction board technique, inertial properties of below-knee prostheses were measured. Using direct measures of prosthesis inertia in the inverse dynamics model of the prosthetic leg resulted in lower magnitudes of resultant joint forces and moments.

This protocol describes the modified hole board, which is a behavioral test set-up that comprises the characteristics of an open field and a traditional hole board. This set-up enables the differential analysis of unconditioned behavior of small laboratory mammals as well as the analysis of cognitive abilities.

This is a demonstration of how biological membranes can be understood using electrical models. We also demonstrate procedures for recording action potentials from the ventral nerve cord of the crayfish for student orientated laboratories.

Computed Tomography and Optical Imaging of Osteogenesis-angiogenesis Coupling to Assess Integration of Cranial Bone Autografts and Allografts

Implantation of autologous and allogeneic bone grafts constitute accepted approaches to treat major craniofacial bone loss. Yet the effect of graft composition on the interplay among neovascularization, cell differentiation and bone formation is unclear. We present a multimodal imaging protocol aimed to elucidate the angiogenesis-osteogenesis interdependence at the graft proximity.
