Rhesus Factor Detection

Rhesus factor detection is a blood typing method used to determine whether red blood cells carry the RhD antigen, an important marker for transfusion compatibility and pregnancy care. It typically relies on antigen-antibody binding: a patient’s red blood cells are mixed with anti-D reagent, and visible agglutination indicates that RhD is present; additional antiglobulin testing can help identify weak expression. This detection supports accurate Rh-positive or Rh-negative classification, reduces the risk of incompatible transfusion reactions, and helps guide prevention of maternal-fetal Rh incompatibility and hemolytic disease of the fetus and newborn.

Detection of Rhesus Factor in Human Blood Samples using Magnetic Levitation

2025

This video demonstrates the detection of the Rhesus (Rh) factor in blood samples using a magnetic levitation instrument. The magnetic field aligns and levitates beads and blood cells based on density. Treating the samples with anti-Rh antibodies results in intermediate-density bead-cell complexes' formation, allowing for the differentiation of Rh-positive and Rh-negative red blood cells.

Electrophoretic Mobility Shift Assay for Detection of Transcription Factor-DNA Complexes

2025

In this video, we demonstrate the electrophoretic mobility shift assay to detect protein-DNA interactions using infrared fluorescent-labeled DNA probes. When the protein binds to the DNA probe, it forms a large complex that migrates slowly on and appears as a shifted band on the gel.

A Simple and Efficient Method to Detect Nuclear Factor Activation in Human Neutrophils by Flow Cytometry

Cited by 23 •

2013

Neutrophils are the most abundant leukocytes in blood. Neutrophils possess transcriptionally regulated functions such as production of proinflammatory cytokines and inhibition of apoptosis. These functions can be studied with the method presented here, which allows detection and quantification of nuclear factors by flow cytometry in isolated...
