Anterior Hyaloid Dissection

Anterior hyaloid dissection is an ophthalmic microsurgical technique that separates the anterior hyaloid face, the front portion of the vitreous framework, from adjacent structures in the anterior segment of the eye. Using controlled instrumentation and direct visualization, the surgeon creates and enlarges a cleavage plane between the hyaloid membrane and the posterior lens capsule or other tissues while limiting traction on the vitreous, zonules, and ciliary body. This approach can provide surgical access, remove or reposition anterior vitreous, and support management of complications involving the lens capsule or intraocular lens. Accurate dissection helps preserve ocular structures and may improve postoperative anatomical outcomes.
