Duodenal Gist

Duodenal gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST) is a rare mesenchymal tumor arising in the duodenum, the first part of the small intestine, and it matters because its location can complicate diagnosis and treatment. Most GISTs develop from, or resemble, interstitial cells of Cajal and are driven by activating changes in KIT or PDGFRA, which promote persistent receptor signaling and uncontrolled cell growth. Evaluation typically combines endoscopy, cross-sectional imaging, and tissue analysis with immunohistochemistry, while management may include surgical resection and targeted therapy such as imatinib for tumors with susceptible molecular alterations. Studying duodenal GIST supports risk assessment and more individualized care.

Robotic Duodenal Sleeve Resection for Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumor with Rare Exon 8 KIT Mutation Following Neoadjuvant Imatinib

2026

This video case report demonstrates the unique management of a duodenal gastrointestinal stromal tumor with a rare, understudied, exon 8 KIT mutation. Neoadjuvant therapy resulted in a 30% reduction in tumor size, making the patient a candidate for a robotic-assisted duodenal sleeve resection instead of the more morbid pancreaticoduodenectomy.

Robotic D3 Partial Duodenal Resection with Primary Side-to-Side Anastomosis

2023

This protocol presents a case of a robotic partial duodenal resection with primary side-to-side duodeno-jejunal reconstruction in a patient with a 5 cm duodenal stenosis. This is done at the third duodenal segment (D3) after an endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR) for a duodenal polyp.

Application of Robot-assisted Pancreaticobiliary Junction Resection in Benign Duodenal Tumors

2024

The current protocol delineates the use of robot-assisted pancreaticobiliary junction resection for the surgical management of benign duodenal tumors. This approach provides an effective solution for treating these tumors while minimizing duodenal loss and reducing associated complications.

Duodenal-Jejunal Bypass Surgery in Diet-Induced Obese Diabetic Mice

Duodenal-jejunal bypass (DJB) surgery can improve glucose metabolism and reduce insulin resistance. Here, we present a protocol to establish a stable and reliable mouse model of DJB.

Visual Evoked Potential Recordings in Mice Using a Dry Non-invasive Multi-channel Scalp EEG Sensor

We designed a dry-type 16 channel EEG sensor which is non-invasive, deformable, and re-usable. This paper describes the whole process from manufacturing the proposed EEG electrode to signal processing of visual evoked potential (VEP) signals measured on a mouse scalp using a dry non-invasive multi-channel EEG sensor.
