Frequency-to-place Mismatch

Frequency-to-place mismatch is a disparity between the frequency of an incoming sound and the cochlear location, or place, activated to represent it, making it an important issue in auditory prostheses and hearing research. In a cochlear implant, sound-processing software divides sound into frequency bands and assigns them to electrodes; mismatch occurs when this allocation does not align with an electrode’s native tonotopic position, often because of array insertion depth or individual cochlear anatomy. The mismatch can alter pitch perception and speech understanding, while measuring and managing it supports implant programming, auditory adaptation, and personalized rehabilitation.

Organisms are capable of detecting and fixing nucleotide mismatches that occur during DNA replication. This sophisticated process requires identifying the new strand and replacing the erroneous bases with correct nucleotides. What is a Frequency Distribution

2023

A frequency is the number of times a value of the data occurs. The sum of all the frequency values represents the total number of students included in the sample. It is commonly used to group data of quantitative types. Frequency distributions can be displayed in a table, histogram, line graph, dot plot, or pie chart, just to name a few. A histogram is a graphical representation of tabulated frequencies, shown as adjacent rectangles, erected over discrete intervals (bins), with an area equal to...
