Spine Ultrasonography

Spine ultrasonography is a noninvasive imaging technique that uses ultrasound to visualize spinal anatomy and guide clinical assessment or procedures, particularly when radiation-free imaging is desirable. A transducer emits high-frequency sound waves, and the system converts returning echoes from tissue interfaces into real-time images; because bone reflects most ultrasound, the method relies on acoustic windows between posterior elements and recognition of characteristic landmarks. In medicine, it can help identify vertebral levels, estimate the depth and midline of the spinal canal, and support neuraxial anesthesia or other spinal interventions. It is especially useful in infants and selected patients, while deeper structures may remain difficult to image.

Changes in ovarian blood flow during the preovulatory period are essential for ovulation. Doppler ultrasonography has been used in humans and large animals to assess ovarian hemodynamics and perfusion. A protocol is presented for applying Doppler ultrasonography to evaluate ovarian hemodynamics during the preovulatory and periovulatory phases in mice.

Ultrasonography is an imaging technique that uses high-frequency sound waves to visualize the body's internal structures. It is a non-invasive and safe procedure that does not involve the use of ionizing radiation, making it widely used in various medical fields. Ultrasonography is used to study heart function, blood flow in the neck or extremities, certain conditions such as gallbladder disease, and fetal growth and development. During an ultrasonography procedure, a handheld device called a...
