Outcome Comparison

Outcome comparison is an analytical method for evaluating how different choices, market conditions, or institutional arrangements produce different results. In microeconomics, it compares variables such as equilibrium price, quantity, consumer and producer surplus, profits, and total surplus while holding other relevant factors constant. This approach clarifies trade-offs between efficiency and equity, helps assess market failures and public policies, and supports predictions about how households, firms, and markets respond to changing incentives.
