Raw Materials Scarcity

Raw materials scarcity is the limited availability of natural inputs relative to the demand for goods and services, making it a central problem of resource allocation. In microeconomics, scarcity raises opportunity costs and can increase prices as competing users bid for constrained supplies; firms and consumers then adjust quantities demanded, production methods, and resource use. Analysis of raw materials scarcity helps explain market signals, substitution, conservation, recycling, and investment in alternatives.
