Dorsal Visual Stream

The dorsal visual stream is a network of brain regions that carries visual information from the occipital cortex toward the parietal cortex, supporting spatial awareness and visually guided behavior. It analyzes features such as motion, location, and the relationships between objects, then combines this information with proprioceptive and motor signals to transform perception into coordinated action. In neuroscience, studying the dorsal stream clarifies how the brain reaches, grasps, navigates, and responds to moving stimuli. Research on damage to this pathway, including optic ataxia and spatial attention deficits, also informs models of perception, clinical assessment, and rehabilitation.

In two-dimensional incompressible fluid flow, the continuity equation is essential for ensuring mass conservation, meaning that any change in fluid entering or exiting a region is balanced by a corresponding change elsewhere. For incompressible flow, where density remains constant, this requirement simplifies to the condition that the divergence of the velocity field must be zero. Mathematically, this is expressed as, where u and v represent the horizontal and vertical velocity components,...

Consider a control volume, such as a pipe with solid boundaries, through which fluid flows and changes direction due to the impulse exerted by the resulting force from the pipe walls. In steady flow, the mass of fluid entering the control volume at a given time, t, with velocity v1, is equal to the mass leaving after infinitesimal time dt, with velocity v2. During this process, the momentum of the fluid within the control volume remains constant over the time interval dt. By applying the...

An in vivo imaging protocol to monitor primary sensory axons following dorsal root crush is described. The procedures utilize wide-field fluorescence microscopy and thy1-YFP transgenic mice, and permit repeated imaging of axon regeneration over 4 cm in the PNS and axon interactions with the interface of the CNS.
